The Office of the Inspector General will present findings from its report, “Montgomery County Public Schools Workers’ Compensation Program.” This report was issued following a performance audit of the MCPS workers’ compensation program, which was authorized by the Board of Education in 2018.

The chief financial officer will provide an update on the work of the Maryland Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education, known as the Kirwan Commission, and legislation passed by Maryland’s General Assembly in April 2019, titled The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and its impact on Montgomery County Public Schools.

The Fiscal Management Committee will hear information pertaining to work accomplished by the Internal Audit Unit during Fiscal Year 2019. Areas of responsibility and issues of concern will be noted.

The chief financial officer will provide an update on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Operating Budget for Montgomery County Public Schools. This update follows the county executive’s recommendations released on March 15, 2019, the County Council’s Education and Culture Committee worksessions on the Board of Education’s budget request, and prior to the Council’s straw vote on May 16, 2019, and final adoption of the FY 2020 Operating Budget on May 23, 2019.
