An overview of the Department of Transportation school bus camera project will be presented. This is a collaborative project with the Montgomery County Public Schools Department of Transportation and the Montgomery County Police Department Automated Traffic Enforcement Unit. Staff will give an overview of the camera enforcement program, discussing the current practice and the benefits of moving to the new program.
Staff will present the interim superintendent of school’s recommendations for the Fiscal Management Committee’s comments on the Subdivision Staging Policy for its quadrennial review. The policy seeks to coordinate subdivision approvals with adequate public facilities, including schools. The Fiscal Management Committee has been reviewing elements of the policy in preparation to develop input on the policy.
Periodically, all county agencies jointly review and bid contracts for vendors for health plan offerings. This is the presentation and discussion of the most recent review and bid cycle.
In 2015, the Board of Education created the Defined Contribution Investment Committee to oversee the menu of investment options in the defined contribution, 403(b) and 457(b) plans. The committee issued an RFP for an investment consultant to provide ongoing advice to the Committee, including monitoring and evaluation of the investment options, analysis of regulatory changes that may affect plan investments, and insights into best practices with respect to governance of the Committee. This is the presentation of the recommendation to hire an investment consultant.
In 2010, the Board of Education entered into a Master Lease agreement to finance the purchase of school buses, technology equipment, and other vital equipment and vehicles in the amount of $73 million. The lease was renewed in 2013 and increased to $91 million. This is a recommendation of a renewal of the master lease at the level of $75 million for another three-year period starting in August 2016.
