During the September 8, 2015, Board meeting, Board Member Philip Kauffman, on behalf of the Board's Policy Management Committee, offered the following resolved for the Board's consideration:
Resolved, That the Board of Education endorse the interim superintendent's recommendations for the High School Final Examination Plan as detailed in his July 14, 2015, memorandum, that includes the following:
(1) For the 2015-2016 School Year: Semester 1: No changes
(2) For the 2016-2017 school year and beyond: Semesters 1 and 2: Two hour centrally developed final exams will be replaced with centrally developed in-class assessments embedded in the curriculum and collected during each marking period to demonstrate student progress; High school exam week with half-days and 2-hour exams is eliminated; and classes will continue on a full day schedule.
A correction was made to the Report of Previous Closed Session, and the revised document has been attached. The vote for Board Appeal No. 2015-19 has been changed to unanimous among those present.
