During open session, the following resolution was moved and adopted by the Board, amending the Resolution for Today's Closed Session:
WHEREAS, The Board of Education of Montgomery County is authorized by the
Education Article and General Provisions Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland to conduct certain meetings or portions of its meetings in closed sessions; now therefore be it
Resolved, That Item 1.2 of the Agenda for today’s Board meeting, the Resolution for Today’s Closed Session, be amended to include the following additional item for the continuation of the closed session:
Resolved, That the Board discuss its strategy for submission of a resolution to the Maryland Association of Boards of Education, which is an administrative function outside the purview of the Open Meetings Act.
The following motion was made by Mr. Barclay during the meeting:
That the Board of Education endorse the interim superintendent’s decision that there will be no two-hour exams for middle school courses beginning with the 2015-2016 school year and the Board’s Policy Management Committee examine any relevant policies and implications of the proposed elimination of high school final exams (which would include the high school credit courses offered in middle school) and make a recommendation to the Board no later than its evening October meeting.
