Staff will provide an update on the funding, procurement, and installation approach related to water bottle filling stations at each school building. Post-pandemic priorities include a focus on several critical infrastructure areas. This installation of water bottle filling stations will assist in the successful reopening of schools and is essential for equitable access to drinking water across the district.

The Maryland Office of Legislative Audits is just about half-way through with the financial management practices audit of Montgomery County Public Schools. This update will inform where the auditors are in the process, and what to expect at the conclusion of the audit.

Staff will provide an update on Independent Activity Funds. There has been a new pronouncement from the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB 84) that will take effect for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 reporting. In addition, in FY 2022, a new online payment system will be rolled out over the course of the fiscal year. This update will address the new accounting and online payment processes.

Staff will provide an End-of-Year Update of the Annual Report of the Internal Auditors for discussion and review.
